This eliminates the need for external outsourcing and helps bridge the “value gap” - the disparity between varied stakeholder interests and decision-making power - which can otherwise cause delays and negatively impact project outcomes.A key benefit of AI integration is its ability to support an evidence-based approach to stakeholder engagement. AI facilitates quicker project startups and smoother transitions into the development phase by providing timely insights and enhancing collaboration. It also drives continuous, data-informed communication, allowing project managers to focus more on strategic leadership and empathetic engagement - areas where AI still cannot fully replicate human intelligence and creativity.This raises an important question: Is AI now a stakeholder in project management? While AI contributes significantly to decision-making, transparency, and governance, it lacks the emotional intelligence, contextual judgment, and adaptability that human project managers bring to stakeholder relationships. AI, therefore, should be seen not as a replacement, but as an enhancer - a powerful tool that supports human-led project governance.Project managers must now take on the dual responsibility of delivering results while also leading their teams through AI integration. This includes educating teams on the use of AI, establishing clear ethical boundaries, and ensuring that AI tools are used to promote fairness, data-driven decisions, and self-evaluation among team members.Ultimately, the inclusion of AI as a “stakeholder” is reshaping how we think about teamwork, collaboration, and engagement in modern workplaces. It’s a shift - not in purpose, but in process. For example, AI supports the project manager’s due diligence and partnerships.
